Game Overview

Description:

The Realm of Agennul is a 3-6 player fantasy conquest style board game. Each player uses two characters to earn the patronage of cities within The Realm and eventually one of their characters will become the hero and protector of The Realm. Normal game time is usually 60-90 min.

Objective of the Game:
The two characters are used together to gain patronage from 6 of the 18 cities (in a 3-4 player game) or 5 of the 18 (in a 5-6 player game). After gaining the patronage from the necessary cities, players must then gain the patronage from one final city; The Hero's City. Only one player can take over The Hero's City, and this signals the end of the game.
Set-up:

Game includes: 1 board, 6 different colored player packets (2 different style pawns, 10mm same colored cubes 10ct. ), coin tokens, damage tokens, dice, an action card deck (60 cards), a character deck (12 cards), and an equipment deck (15 cards). At the beginning of the game, players must choose a color to represent them during game play. Players then randomly choose two character cards from the character card deck. Each player controls both of their chosen characters during the game. Every character card has specific attributes and 'skills' that make each of them unique. The different attributes are: Attack, Defense, Movement, and Health Points.
Turn order is determined by the highest roll on a die. Starting with the highest roller, players take their turn in clockwise order. After turn-order has been determined, the lowest rolling player may choose first where to 'Enter the Realm'. This involves choosing 1 of 6 different 'Start' locations marked on the board. Once the lowest roller has chosen their starting location, the remaining players then take turns choosing their starting positions until all players have placed their character pawns on the starting locations.
After shuffling the action and equipment card decks, players are dealt three (3) random action cards as well as one (1) equipment card. These cards are placed into each player's respective hands.
Players' Turn:
Without going into too much detail:

During a turn, a player may do the following actions in order: draw action cards / play action cards, receive coin from "patroned", purchase equipment cards, upgrade cities to fortifications, move their characters, attack / "Liberate a City", and lastly see the result of their actions.
If a character is defeated through battle instead of being removed from play, the defeated character loses any attached equipment and "re-spawns" at the defeated character's 'starting' location. If both characters owned by a player during a turn are defeated, then both return to their starting location and the player removes any "patroned" cities under their control.
End of Game:
The Realm of Agennul is played until a player has received the necessary amount of cities giving patronages, and has liberated The Hero's City. The character who liberated the Hero's City is The Hero of Agennul and Protector of the Realm. At that time, a player may make a decree on whether or not the realm will prosper with peace, or suffer under their rule.
